Davante Adams traded to Jets in last chance to save New York’s season

Aaron Rodgers got his wish (again).

After a very quick few weeks since Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams requested a trade, the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets got a deal done, sending the superstar receiver back to his former QB in Green Bay Aaron Rodgers.

New York sends a conditional third round pick that could become a second based on individual play to Las Vegas in the trade, but the biggest thing the Jets are doing is taking on all of Adams’ salary. That was another holdup in trade negotiations, which New York was able to bring on given their cap space.

New York does this trade off the heels of another disappointing loss in prime time, a 23-20 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. The offense still looks disjointed and Rodgers doesn’t have a rapport with WR Mike Williams, the biggest example being the deep interception to end the game. Now, Adams comes in and the offense can be even more efficient underneath.

For a 2-4 Jets team that is on the brink of falling apart, this trade has to be the thing that boosts them to the top. New York has already fired head coach Robert Saleh after a rough start, but the season isn’t over yet. Only five AFC teams enter Week 7 with more wins than the Jets.

In a good, but very flawed AFC, this trade just might be enough to give Rodgers and the offense the boost it needs.
