Revenue and Operating Income of Various Business Segments of Apple

Apple is a global tech company and conduct operations in various markets. They have divided these markets into business segments.

The most dominant business segment of this company is the US. Most of the people in the US use Apple products. The US make up for most of the sales and revenue of the company.

The US business segment has a direct impact on AAPL Stock. If this market segment is performing well, the share prices rise. However, Asia is another market segment which is profitable for Apple. 

This company has seen a huge sale in markets like China and Japan. The Asia Pacific region, along with other Asian markets, constitutes nearly 30% of the company’s revenue. It clearly shows that the Asian market segment is more profitable than Europe.

  • America Segment:

It includes North America as well as South America region. In the year 2020, the revenue from this segment increased by 6.5%. The total revenue of this segment is 124.6 billion. It makes up nearly 45% of Apple’s total revenue in 2020. The operating income increased by 7.5%. It is $37.7 billion. Apple’s 41% operating income come from this segment.

  • Europe:

It includes all the European Countries. The Middle East and Africa also fall into this segment. The revenue of this segment has increased by 13.9%. It makes up $68.8 billion in 2020. It makes up 25% of Apple’s total revenue. The operating income has grown by 15.5%. It is $22.2 billion. It makes up 24% of the total operating income of the company in 2020.

  • Japan:

Japan might be a small country, but it is a very important business segment for Apple. The revenue of this segment has increased by 0.4%. Japan makes up 8% of Apple’s total revenue, i.e. $21.4 billion. The operating income has gone down by 1%. It is $9.3 billion. It makes up 10% of Apple’s total operating income.

  • Greater China:

It includes all the top countries in China like Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China. The revenue has gone down by 7.7%. This segment made only $40.3 billion. It is only 15% of the company’s total revenue. The operating income dropped by 6%. It is $15.3 billion. It makes up 17% of Apple’s total operating income.

  • Asia Pacific:

It includes Australia as well as other Asian countries. The revenue of this segment has increased by 10.1%. This segment makes up 7% of Apple’s total revenue, i.e. $19.6 billion. The operating income has gone down by 12.4%. It is $6.8 billion. It makes up 7% of Apple’s total operating income.
